“In any case, I think we can also agree that if a mare were to ask out each of the Mane 6, Applejack would probably be the least likely to say yes.”
hmmm, I don’t know. In this scenario there’s other mare, and she is asking, and this introduces many variables. I could see Rarity saying yes out of generosity/charity/compassion depending of the situation. Applejack, in the other hoof, is the element of honesty and would probably say no to her face.
The only mare I have no doubt of the sexuality is Rarity, because she openly displayed her interest in stallions many and many times (and was always very gender specific). Applejack, in the other hoof, never shown ay interest in stallions (that I remember) and strongly refused that fashion designer I don’t remember the name.
You raise a valid point with the ‘nurture vs choice’. I introduced “choice” because the legal loophole was about choice. And many people consider that if isn’t genetic, then it’s choice.
Obviously no one would choose to be gay in the world we live in, but “nurture” is not the same thing as choice. For example, I didn’t choose to enjoy watching My Little Pony, but I doubt it’s in my genes either.
I’m perfectly open to the idea of gayness being purely genetic, if science can prove it so. Until then, the jury’s still out as far as I’m concerned, but we can agree that it’s not a choice.
In any case, I think we can also agree that if a mare were to ask out each of the Mane 6, Applejack would probably be the least likely to say yes.

I’m pretty sure that science has shown that pretty much every behavioral trait is both nature and nurture
I am not from the U.S.A., however, seems to me that the problem with it is that there’s some legal loopholes in U.S.A. and if to be gay was considered a choice then some rights could be taken from the gay people. I can be wrong about that, it has been a long time since I heard that.
I, however, am not a fan from the nurture reasoning for more logical and intrinsic reasons. Sexual attraction is a biological instinct. Moreover, how nurture would explain gay people in a world that is majoritarily straight and that pursued them to death sometimes? How nurture explain the high number of gays that are kicked out from their homes because they were created by families that are strongly anti-gay? If nurture was an important factor, then such cases should not exist.
Edited because: Grammar.
Sorry. I meant to say there are theories. My mistake.
I think it’s a bit telling though, that apparently no one wants to fund a study that would question our belief that you’re born gay. I’m not saying one or the other (nature or nurture) is necessarily true. I just think it’s weird that people only seem open to the genetic explanation.

I would like to see a link to those studies.
Then again, to a certain extent, I guess I meant what I said. There are some studies that suggest that being gay is equal parts nature and nurture.
Edited
I don’t believe you expressed yourself very well.
Basically what I meant.
“Applejack is the least likely of the Mane 6 to be gay.”
Nope. I say:
“Applejack is the least likely of the Mane 6 to accept herself if she was born gay.”
The family values don’t affect the probability of her being born gay. They only make harder to her to express her sexuality if she was born gay.
Or it could be like old timey America, or Japan today, where everyone just assumes that no one they know is gay.
But yeah, I do assume that at least the Mane 6 are all straight.
Actually I always figured all of them are straight canonically, and in Equestria it occasionally comes up but its just not an issue, like in Star Trek.
And now I’ve realized that the lack of open homosexuality implies that Equestria is as homophobic as the real world.
Dont care, still ship ’em
What about Rarity, who’s the most flagrantly heterosexual of the entire cast? (Ten times more so if you factor in expanded universe material.)
