Krillin also always stood his ground and got in a few good hits against people who were several thousand magnitudes outside of his weight class; courage is being afraid and going ahead anyway. Yamcha talked a good game, acted like a cocky asshole, and got utterly shut down in every fight he got into. No wonder Vegeta3986 likes him!

Remember, every Z Fighter had a time when they were a legitimate threat. For most of them, this was the course of Dragonball. For Chiaotzu and Yajirobe, it was the entirety of their first appearance. Yamcha was literally only a relevant combatant for one half of one fight in his introductory episode, and only because Goku was hungry. After that, he spent the entirety of Dragonball - not Z, DRAGONBALL - bitching out to stronger people in increasingly humiliating ways. The only canon fights he won were against the Invisible Man, in which he required the help of no less than four people, and the Manwolf, who got a good hit on Yamcha, when against literally ANYONE ELSE would have been the tough talking jobber to get squashed.

It was about time…I mean, I know that Dragon Ball Super may be going the way of Fullmetal Alchemist as far as doing it’s own original take, but they were really stalling with those episodes with the Saiyans getting the shit kicked out of them by Zamasu and Black (Now just Zamasu…)
