I think traditional ones can get away without a transparent BG, since that can take time for an unskilled person to remove. Whereas the digital art kinda doesn’t have any excuse for a background.

(srsly though, the tag description says that the tag is taken off if the pic doesn’t follow the rules described on the first post in the thread, one of which states that the BG needs to be transparent. I think there might be a tool for making transparent backgrounds online, such as THIS)
