Yes, it does. Carrying on from the final episode of the first season.
Thanks for sharing some more information on the series. I understand that this latest season finally has the robots turning on the humans?
In a lot of ways, the “New” Westworld deals with themes in much the same vein as Blade Runner did: Creation of a slave race, at what point do we consider machines to be living beings, and how we treat such beings.
People acting like monsters towards the Hosts isn’t surprising; it’s not hard to draw parallels between how the guests see the park as a game and how people behave in a lot of MMOs or open sandbox games. It’s disinhibition owing to it “not being real”, “just a game”.
That said, I’m going to admit my bias here. I like stories about these kinds of subjects (Blade Runner is my favorite movie). I also have a problem taking the original film seriously, since it was written and directed by Michael Crichton. Yes, the guy who did Jurassic Park. Recycled premise aside, I keep wondering what it is about theme parks that bugged him so much.
Luna: on it
Not on the show really, but the one who plays Dolores and especially the one playing Arnold have been very vocal politically, to the point that It’s more about their politics than acting.
What do you mean by ‘political’? Are the characters done as strawmen?
It can be that way. I personally hate how political most of the main cast is. Anthony Hopkins is pretty good though.
No problem. You might like it, it isn’t quite how pop culture makes it out to be.
I’ve never seen Deliverance, all I know about it is the classic ‘Squeal like a pig, boy’ line. But thanks for the recommendation.
The original movie made for a good double feature alongside Deliverance. They touched on similar themes regarding the nature of masculinity, civilization and survival. In a not shrill, preachy way, too.
From everything I’ve heard and read, the ‘new’ Westworld sounds awful. The original did a fine job of getting the point across of how immoral the actions of the guests were, while still making their brutal deaths horrible. The remake seems like it’s ugliness for the sake of ugliness.
Whoa, so it turned into a TV Series now. Originally it was a movie in the 1970s and it spawned a sequel named “Futureworld” which Peter Fonza was in. The robots were taken to repair rooms in the original movie too but I don’t recall what you mentioned as part of the story at all.
Edited
It’s from Westworld, which is a show about a theme park filled with Androids for the guests to shoot, stab, mutilate, and rape for $40,000 a day. Because of all this abuse and them being pretty much synthetic humans, they are often taken to clean rooms for repairs and cleaning. However, they interpret the clean room suits the employees wear as demons or extraterrestrials.
