According to the artist, it’s a random nightmare creature she’s fighting. In his stories, Applebloom apparently becomes something of an “apprentice” of Princess Luna and goes about fighting nightmares in other ponies’ dreams.
I’m not questioning applebloom and what that scythe is I’m questioning what that ugly motherfucking monster is!
What if it was a falx instead? That’s a kind of ‘battle scythe’.
Besides, that being a dream, the weapon ’Bloom has is probably precisely as lethal as she wants it to be.
