Well, that’s what ABC’s doing.
In the pre-cable day,s the TV networks would show it as a special event, and since even after VCRs became popular it wasn’t on video, those specials were the only way to see it. They did show it at Christmas time a lot, and i guess it became a tradition through repetition and differ net generations all experiencing it the same way. Yeah, not a Christmas movie, though (I remember it always being shown at Easter when I was a kid, not that it’s an Easter movie, either).
