I don’t know why the writers felt they had to throw the rest of the cast under the bus to make way for Starlight when so many other characters have already been able to share stories and leave a huge impression. Luna, the CMC, Big Mac, the background ponies… the list goes on. And Starlight has more than enough personality to be interesting without having to be the sole focus of every episode she makes more than a cameo appearance in.
 
It’s made even more confusing when you realize that MLP already did this perfectly in Rainbow Rocks/Friendship Games, and those movies were created by most of the same people.

And it almost made me forget that the writers constantly have other characters reduced and worfed all to make Starlight shine and then go out of their way to try to say she’s more sympathetic than the captured,brainwashed or humiliated ponies around her.

I think it’s ironic, because I have this image that Starlight is older than Twilight. Starlight is probably as old as Cheerilee, Shining Armor, Big Mac.

They are so adorable together. <3

I always felt Celestia and Twilight were an adorable teacher-pupil combo, as a kind of mother-daughter dynamic, but Twi and Starlight are really adorable as well, as a kind of ‘older sister and younger sister’ dynamic. =)
