Description
Found this on an upcoming planogram. Usually they just have placeholder boxes or pics of toys from previous waves, but not always. Don’t expect to see this in stores soon, as we still have the classroom sets to come first, but might be part of the wave after that. Should be the $20 price point.

Acording to MLP Merch there are, including variants, 49 Minis listed, 7 figures are not the Hu-mane 6. Removing the Variants there are 6 non Hu-mane, and 30 Hu-mane 6. I counted Sci-Twi as part of the Hu-mane 6.
But, out of the 36 molds, my point stands, the line will need to last years, The (5) Shadowbolts, The (2) Dazzlings, Trixie, VP Luna, and any other new character would be released extremely slowly. I could easily see Trixie in the Job Series, with Magician Accessories; or Sonata working at Not-Taco Bell.

There is apparently 25 characters in total confirmed for the Minis line, including the Mane 6 (but not variants). So with that many characters still in the pipeline, Hasbro must be spreading them somewhat thin.
Also out of the Shadow Bolts, I think Sugarcoat has the best chance for a Mini, and Sunny Flare is 100% forgettable.
I think it would suck if they didn’t get toys, but seeing as they aren’t reoccurring characters, the odds are slim. Plus there are 5 Shadow Bolts, I think it would be smart to ditch the uniforms, but there are still 5. Personally I think we should get the other 2 Dazzlings first, and there more interesting.
Outside of the Mane 6 we haven’t gotten that many Non-Mane 6: in 2016 we got Sunset Shimmer, DJ-Pon3, Flash Sentry, and in 2017 so far Photo Finish, Adagio, and Principal Celestia. A total of 6 confirmed Non-Mane 6.
The designs were fine, it was the characterizations that needed work. Only 3 of them had character(Soursweet, Sugarcoat and to a lesser extent Indigo Zap), and at least one of those 3(Indigo Zap) had it just barely. Sunny Flare had no characterization and only had a few lines, poor Lemon Zest had a single line in the whole movie and yet had a little bit of characterization in that she was clearly some kind of rowdy rocker. Hopefully they get some more characterization in at least one of those 3 EqG specials coming up.
Although, the EqG line seems to stick the the mane cast, while the main MLP line has a larger variety, including obscure background ponies even I haven’t paid attention to.
I, personally, think it has more to do with the fact that the kids will latch on to characters that have more development. The Shadow Bolts had barely any screen time, and it backfired when Hasbro pushed them really hard.
Kids won’t buy toys about characters they don’t care about, and they’re still target demographic for the toys, even with more addition of GoH and the Minis. Which is why we don’t see toys of background ponies outside of the Derpy, DJ, Octavia, ect, which the target demo also latched onto.
It’s a shame kids are so vain and vapid. Still, the Minis are not the Dolls, the Minis are purchased also by adult fans, collectors and custom enthusiasts who buy multiple versions of the same character for spare parts. The adult fans are more comfortable buying the Minis than they are buying girls dolls. it’s probably why they made the Minis range to begin with.
As I said earlier with the 2000 He-Man range, they’re making mistakes based on assumptions on past events when they really are not related. The dolls are for little girls(yes, they are), the Minis can be sold to a wider range of buyers. I’m an adult, I don’t buy the dolls because they’re dolls, but I’d buy Shadowbolts Minis for display. The Minis are nothing like the Dolls. Hell, I’d buy some of the background characters I like the designs of, but I’m eagerly awaiting Trixie to be released.
Twi’s wearing her lab coat from the end of Rainbow Rocks, I think.

It’s because the Mane 6 sell fine and others really don’t. I recall Friendship Games having a huge problem because people weren’t buying the Shadow Bolts, and they just sat there being shelf warmers until they hit clearance.

Maybe, but they seem to be going in order of the movies, and we’ve yet to see FG and LoE.
Definately wouldn’t mind seeing it in the series though.
Nope. Also a brand new Fluttershy + pets set and a mockup of GoH AJ. Fluttershy is uploaded now. Didn’t get a pic of AJ, but she’s the same size set as Pinkie with her cannon and was shown with her hat and a lasso. Purely existing art assets, though, so the final toy might be radically different.
