“pepper noooooo, that’s a hot drink, not baked gooooooods!”
Apparently this includes parenting, which explains why her parents are morons.
Especially since they really don’t have much reason to think they know what specifically the mark refers to; It’s rare to just be ‘good at baking’ both in terms of cutie-mark talents and in terms of real-life talents, it’s usually something tied to personal quirks or interests - A talent in making strawberry cakes, a talent in making the food visually appealing, and so on.
And then a general talent for the ‘art’ stems from a mix of a lot of practice (if you love making strawberry cakes, you get a lot of motivation to practice baking, and then might be able to use that practice on other cakes) and some lesser interest for related tasks (again, if you love making strawberry cakes, you probably both like the taste of strawberries/cakes and like the process of making cakes. Non-strawberry cakes or non-cake strawberry recipes are probably rather interesting)
So, these parents see a ‘Hot cocoa with a peppermint stick’ cutie mark and go ‘Clearly, she’s meant to be a baker doing bakery things!’
As opposed to, say, being interested in winter-sports, selling hot cocoa to her fellow audience members and/or participants - or just an everything-enthusiast that sells hot cocoa everywhere.
Or a cafe-owner, who’s known for the self-hoof-made decorations and furniture that make up a rather homely atmosphere.
Heck, combine them; She makes her own cart, her own outfit, and her own recipes, and goes wherever there’s an audience to sell her cocoa.
So, yeah, the parents aren’t just being jerks in the usual ‘we know what’s good for you’ sense, they’re also being utterly moronic and might ruin her life by not letting her learn the vital skills that would let her do whatever her talent is.
