The only thing bugging me is that in reference to her alternate self, Celestia used the present tense, rather than the past. Mirror!Sombra did absorb the Mirror!Sisters’ evil, IIRC.

oh she knows. it’s just that at times she doesn’t care. I’m a guy fighting addiction and sometimes it’s really hard to stick to the rehab program despite knowing full well that it benefits me in the long run. Knowing is half of the battle, but having the discipline and willpower to stick with good means instead of evil means, now that’s the harder half.
 
Starlight is shown to be dedicated and talented, but lazy and she clearly doesn’t handle discomfort and criticism well. She’s the type that dodges one issue but overcompensates for it later. That tendency to overcompensate leads to her justifying evil means. “everypony will probably thank me” and “everypony wins” yeah she knows alright, she knows she about to be naughty and to get away with it.
 
Which is why I find it hard to forgive her. I like her though, I like her a lot.
