I agree with you on that one. No doubt why there are a lot of evil-doers out there doing a lot of horrible things to innocent people.

Well hatred is it’s own unique emotion, and it’s one of the most destructive. Rage is like an explosion, damaging everthing within radius, it’s destructive but it’s usually quick. but hatred is much more vicious, it’s more like an infinitely hot all-consuming flame, it starts out small but grows and grows until it destroys everything within reach. Just look at human history, hatred in one form or another is responsible for most wars and violence. Something like that definitely shouldve gotten its own lantern. There’s also the fact that it more or less consumes all other emotions a person feels, as the hatred builds eventually all they feel is hate, even rage eventually disappears and is replaced with a cold darkness. Trust me about this, I know a lot about hatred, as for a majority of my life I’ve had to keep colossal amounts of my own from surfacing

Not entirely. The black lanterns represented emotionlessness, the absence of light, whereas my idea for hatred is the opposite of light, the void, annihilation. Another more disturbing difference is in the color of its energy, it’s much darker than than that of the black lanterns, with it absorbing 100% if all light and energy that hits it. This makes it impossible to make out any 3-d features on its energy constructs, they appear as 2-d silhouettes, making even harder to fight, for reference like up vantablack. The constructs also more or less appear to “radiate” darkness, as they absorb light and energy in there immediate vicinity.  
The creepiest part would be the single weilder of the ring themselves. They would be motivated sinply by a hatred towards all of existence , and the burning need to see it cease. They wouldn’t be full of rage like the red lanterns, just cold, methodical, sadistic hatred.

Not quite the same as what I’m talking about. What about talking about is a lantern wit the color of void, blacked than black. Like avarice it can only have one user at s time, since it’s user is motivated by an undying hatred for everything else in existence. With the user any constructs they create, unless they will them otherwise, will disintegrate anything they touch. The ring also slowly consumes its user unless they have enough willpower. pretty much meaning only someone who either is or has the potential to become a green lantern can overcome the void ring

red lanterns have highly acidic blood, which they use as a weapon, melting their opponents by spraying them with it.

Oh. Ironic since hate in itself is a completely different and much darker emotion, they could’ve used that. For example they could’ve had an entire lantern based on hatred, a lantern the color of void, blacker than black. With the constructs it’s user creates eating away at anything they touch like acid, while also slowly consuming its user. But the user doesn’t care, all they care about is destroying everything they can before they are consumed

Ultraviolet, from what I’ve read, represents shame, which is a very negative emotion. So it might be the reverse for the Invisible Spectrum, and infrared could theoretically represent a positive emotion… Though there’s definitely positive-feeling emotions that can be bad things. Pride is probably the most common example of this… And a Lantern team driven by it would certainly have the potential to be horrible in any number of ways.

it’s interesting how the further the color from the middle of the spectrum, the more a lantern’s powers control them. ultraviolet would be a positive emotion, but… yeah.
 
what would really scare me are infrared lanterns.

From what I’ve read about the Ultraviolet Lanterns, this is one of those “you don’t control it, it controls you” things. I guess if it’s difficult-to-impossible for someone to control their own actions, you could describe that as a form of insanity.

when I said yellow is prone to losing their shit, I meant that they’re the most sane, second only to green. and that’s just the marvel comics, not this pony crossover, which may be different.

it’s troubling how the degree changes, to which the emotion entities influence the bearer of their light. green exerts the least influence, being the most “balanced” while the ones to either side are increasingly slaves to their emotions. totally not pink star sapphires are supposed to be completely insane about spreading their love, more like changelings than anything, imprisoning people in a frozen state of bliss, parasitizing on them, etc. ironically, only individuals with a massive amount of willpower can temporarily regain their individuality once claimed by the more extreme ends of the spectrum. otherwise they’re pretty much mindless emotion monsters. avarice/compassion are space cases, pretty much constantly obsessed with their given emotion, and fear/hope are prone to losing their shit when provoked.
