>liver-only bile production

All bile is liver-produced, gallbladder only stores it.

It’s called “forcing exercise through willpower until you cannot no longer not exercise”.
>As I understand it, grease basically turns whatever you eat into sliders when you’ve had yours out.

Yeah, all indigestible oils (like mineral oil) do that, and non-functional oil dissolver (bile) turns normally digestible oils like seed oils indigestible, too.
>until I’m down to around the higher end of my goal of 210-230. Maybe some day I will even be at a ’Normal’ BMI.

Like, I can probably have cheat meals, but I’d rather hold off on even trying to stretch and see what my body can get away with liver-only bile production until I’m down to around the higher end of my goal of 210-230. Maybe some day I will even be at a ‘Normal’ BMI. (190, natch. I’ll see what I can manage but I hold no illusions of ever being under 200 unless I spontaneously develop an addiction to exercise.)

Even then, cheating my diet would probably just be something higher fat but not greasy. As I understand it, grease basically turns whatever you eat into sliders when you’ve had yours out.

Not even if you stretch out the greasy-thing-eating? From what I know gallbladder removal doesn’t prevent whatever normally accumulates in it from going to the stomach, just being able to release it in a large burst for something big.

Not unless I continue to maintain it myself. This cost me my ability to eat anything greasy ever again, at least without severe diarrhea. Gotta get the rest of the way down to a healthy weight to try and avoid diabetes and fatty liver issues.

Yeah, I’ve been home for a bit now. The hole for the drain tube seems to have closed up alright, and I finally started having bowel movements again, so I’m feeling a lot more back to normal/am less worried about complications showing up at this point.

Well they seem to think things are good enough to pull out the drain (god that was a disturbing sensation) say I can switch back to solid food and can hopefully go home shortly.

Even with the potential minor backslide of one last stone, I still feel like I’m making good progress. Still hurts to bend, getting up and down, but only like half as bad as yesterday.

Back on fluids and CLO, liver count is back up. Seems like I have one or more that are in the ducts. Hopefully when they enlarged the exit it means they’ll pass fine. We’re taking it slow and being careful because I really want to be done already but not as bad as I want it to go fine.

That’s absolutely fine. You have the right and responsibility to decide for yourself what you believe to be true and what you believe to be false as does everyone.

Sciencepone of Science!
@Background Pony #8A9E
Basically I’m saying give me peer-reviewed, double-blind studies and I’ll believe you. Otherwise it’s just hocus pocus and placebo. I’m not going to trust some random background pony on the internet with my health over people who’ve spent decades intensely studying the body well enough to actually provably heal it. If the methods you propose are truly sound, then someone should prove them with aforementioned peer-reviewed and double-blind research with years of follow-up, and then I’ll trust them enough to risk my life over someone’s guess (someone who, unlike actual doctors, has not spent many years studying the body for 16+ hours a day in a painstaking rigorous processes followed up by many years of working with healing bodies for 8+ hours a day). At the very least, you could attempt to exhibit some knowledge of the topic beyond what any common layman could come up with to make it look like, at the very least, an educated guess. But for now, I trust doctors.

Should probably wind this down, though, since we’re getting too far off the spirit of the image. But now at least I’ve explained where I stand and why.

@Cirrus Light
It does not often carry significant risk of lodging stones in the body unless you have an extreme problem in which the mainstream medicine is probably your best bet because you have an emergency that cannot be solved with a gradual process. The diet and herbs in the cleanse procedure are designed to break down and soften up the stones chemically. Some of the people who sell the herbs that aid in the cleanse have review sections. In the hundreds of reviews posted no one has had a gall bladder or liver infection. Some have felt worse for a few days but this is because of the detoxification process.

I am not saying that medical doctors are not people that care about the patient, however, they are trained to use abrupt and potent methods of treatment that are in many cases similar to emergency procedures.

Also, your ad hominems are amusing but unpleasant.

Sciencepone of Science!
@Background Pony #8A9E
Except that medical professionals do talk about healthy living practices. See, doctors and nurses aren’t direct mind-controlled puppets to the CEO’s of corporations, they’re human beings that often go into medicine because they believe in practicing it, and they mention healthy lifestyle advice just as often, if not more so, than they market drugs. Don’t get sold into conspiracy theories so easily.

Plus, Keith brought up a valid concern with - getting stuff out of your body may not necessarily be healthier than letting the body dispose of it more naturally.

And the prime function of me wanting actual science here is that it has procedures to filter out placebo.

But it looks like that’s not so much the issue so much as it is that doing your little thing often carries significant risk of lodging stuff around in your body where it doesn’t belong, the reason for Keith’s procedures in the first place.

Don’t spend a few hours, or even many hours on Google and think you know better than people who’ve devoted their entire lives to medicine.
Background Pony #62E2
@Cirrus Light
Science? Science is an observation of cause and effect with experiments to confirm your observations and hypothesis. I was just trying to provide information that may be useful, and you are free to reject my experience as “anecdotal”.

In my opinion the mainstream medical system is an excellent well designed system to quickly fix your health problems with very potent drugs and procedures that may have powerful side effects. This system works especially well to correct emergencies where time is limited. Sometimes the solutions are “quick fixes” that last only temporarily like some of the powerful pain killers people use.

If you are looking to gradually correct your health systematically over a long period of time and adjust your body to correct chronic health problems I believe that the world of alternative medicine has solutions that are not as dramatic in the short term but can drastically improve your health in the long term.

Before you dismiss my opinion as false, there are many papers and scientifically published works that support the effectiveness of health practices that are not usually used in the mainstream. You see, gradual permanent cures are not profitable to the corporations that would rather repetitively sell expensive, potent quick fixes that do not really solve the problem. Thus the profitable solutions are marketed to the consumer while effective long term “alternative” health practices are hidden for the consumer to discover.

Stepped up my stepping today. Twice as many laps of the floor than usual since they finally took me off the saline drip, so I was taking the weight off my stomach by using a walker instead of trying to avoid kicking my IV stand and keep steering it so it wouldn’t spin around and tangle. Maybe a bit much since sitting down afterwards was much easier than usual since I suddenly felt very dizzy until I laid back and caught my breath. They finally gave me a menu to pick stuff I will actually eat tomorrow. Still weirded out at the prospect of them pulling out the JP (drainage tube) because gah. Fortunately all that walking and standing is finally starting to get the gas out.

@Background Pony #8A9E
The problem is every time you pass a stone, you risk them lodging in your ducts. The blockage is painful, infection and inflammation can travel to your liver and can cause pancreatitis if it lodged or irritated where it goes through that. Unless you developed them from sudden weight loss, it’s basically guaranteed to keep recurring until you get it removed. Reminder that a stone lodging in my ducts is why I’ve gone through all this shit this week, with me originally assuming that I had either the flu or salmonella.
