And here we have the Aria in the last moments of her sleep cycle, in which she awakes gloomy-eyed and grumpy-faced for the day ahead. The Aria has evolved to sleep until noon at the least, so as to minimize her exposure to this horrid ‘daytime’ period, even while knowing that her natural enemy, the Sonata, only grows more likely to disturb her slumber with the noise she makes while the sun is up. Inevitably, the species clash, and it falls to the Adagio (which grew diurnal so as to intercept the Sonata as soon as possible) to prevent the violent, frantic mating dance of tooth-marks and pulled hair that befalls the Aria and the Sonata should their schedules overlap too much. The Adagio is known to carry a whip, and should be approached only in the most dire of circumstances and with extreme caution.
