So this is the same as that Starlight book that already came out, it’s just under a different name. Why is it coming so late for the rest of the world though? I’m probably just going to buy one from the states then.

Hardly the only complaints you hear people make about her or how she’s used, as far as episode discussion threads are concerned.

@Mojo
Sunset most certainly did turn good with just the usual rainbow-to-the-face method, but she certainly did not become a perfect saint overnight for Rainbow Rocks or during Friendship Games, as she had anger issues plus other stuff (even if she did turn into a magical girl at the end of the latter movie). Now, Legend of Everfree Sunset actually did feel like they were trying to make her a saint. After two movies worth of character development.

I get we are exaggerating stuff a little to make a point how Starlight criticism feels unfair sometimes, but seriously people, don’t make that same mistake yourselves if you want to call some one else out on it.

True.
I didn’t mind it too much with Diamond Tiara actually considering we didn’t know hardly anything about her besides, “lol blank-flanks.” I kinda liked how she got completely broken, (lost the school election for the first time, lost the fear/respect of her school-mates, turned her own best friend against herself, got chewed out by her Mom, she pretty much hit rock bottom, as her adorable sad song shows, and she finally began questioning herself.) but built back up again by those she wronged the most ironically.

I wasn’t too keen on reforming Discord, at first, but I like how he still retains his mischievous side, and still gets to be Discord. Plus they developed it a bit over several episodes cementing it after he tried being bad again only for it to backfire big time for him cementing his heel-face-turn.

Sunset Shimmer though, while everyone loves her now, honestly I feel they kinda overly “woobie-fied” her in “Rainbow Rocks.” To the point where some fans hated other characters for “picking on her.” (Forgetting that the Siren’s magic amplified their hate, and that Sunset used to be quite nasty in the first movie, picking on others instead, so it’s understandable why many characters didn’t trust her.)
Her whole personality pretty much changed in between both movies. But I think the reasons most fans prefer her over other reformed characters, is because she had to suffer a bit for her reforming. Though, as I said Tiara & Discord suffered a bit too.

All those mistakes are pretty much why I like Glimmer so much, sure her intital turn around was fast but that’s been the case for pretty much every redeemed character. But unlike a certain other redeemed character the fandom now LOVES Starlight didn’t become basically a freaking saint overnight.

Well, it’s hard to tell sarcasm online.
Before anyone starts calling me a “Glimmy-Glam white-knight” I’m kinda neutral on Glimmer, and I admit I used to dislike her, (liked her better as a villain oddly) and I felt her reformation was rushed. (Goes from an unintentional omni-cidal maniac, to nice almost instantly. Though, I liked how a few episodes touched on her flaws a bit. Like when she tried to magically force her friends to do things, pissed off Mrs. Cake, and cast a spell on Big Mac, and such.)

It’s lose-lose.

FYI this book was already released under the title “Starlight Glimmer and the Secret Suite”.

This is a UK reprinting. For some reason the Berrow books have different titles in the UK (at least, the Lyra and Cadance ones do).

The drama calmed down after the first EqG movie came out, but surprisingly, “Rainbow Rocks” was pretty well-received. (It even got many fans to like Sunset Shimmer, as before many thought she was a cliché “high school alpha-bitch” character in the first movie.)

I suppose I can understand why some dislike it. As for instance, making the Ninja Turtles human, would make them no longer the TMNT. Some also felt the high school setting was too cliché, or a cheap attempt to appeal to younger tweens, and compete with “Monster High.” But I guess it depends on how it’s handled. The EqG movies and official animated shorts, (I loved the shorts) managed to keep at least the same sense of humor, magical adventure aspects, and character personalities fans loved.

@rdibp
Yet, the writer’s ignored her existence for half of Season 6, and she has screwed up things a few times. Not exactly “Mrs. Perfect.“

full

but of course certain people don’t like that people think it’s brettygud and they want to let people know about how much they hate it at every opportunity because they have opinions that are incorrigible

which tbh doesn’t make sense because anthro/humanized art has existed way before EqG was even a thing - maybe they just don’t like it when it’s official because then it’s “pandering”?

sorry if this is irrelevant I’ll understand if it gets deleted or something

Maybe they want more pre-orders?

While I wasn’t too keen on her rushed reformation either, I actually agree, the hate is getting old. Still, the drama over her, has been minimal lately compared to classic dramas like “Twilicorn,” and “Derpygate.” Heck, you should’ve seen how bad the drama over the first “Equestria Girls” movie before it even came out was. I got chewed out by people here, just because I said maybe we should give it a shot first.
