It’s hard to tell how canonical that comic is - for example Colgate, Moondacer, Lemon Hearts, and Lyra are there all visibly older than Twilight, and Sunset’s age, but in the cartoon proper, Colgate, Twinkleshine, Moondacer, Lemon Hearts, and Lyra are exatly Twilight’s age.:  
 

 
So that may mean Sunset is younger, and closer to Twlight’s age, or like CyberSquirrel wrote it’s something like 2-3 years of a difference.

I just remember seeing Sunset’s backstory comic and seeing blank flank Twilight playing with Cadence with Sunset in the same frame and it sometimes weirds me out.

Canon is really vague on that point — you can pretty much argue anything from “SciTwi might actually be older” to “Sunset should be old enough to be SciTwi’s mom”. Likewise, SciTwi could be anything from mid-teens to early twenties.
 
As far a shipping goes, I tend to assume SciTwi’s about 19, and Sunset’s about 21. That’s an age gap that doesn’t hugely bother me, but I don’t pretend to be an expert in such matters.

It’s never been established, but going on the original movie where she was described as being Celestia’s student before Twilight, and given the time for the portal to activate and her establishing herself at the school, I’d say she’s no more than 3-4 years older than Twilight.
 
More pressing is the fact that by the end of the second, third movie at the latest, she should’ve been out of the school. But that won’t happen since that’s the backdrop for the movies.
