^Actually, that doesn’t make sense at all, even by astrological standards. The planets aren’t associated with elements. Mercury, for example, rules both Gemini and Virgo, respectively an air sign and an earth sign. Aquarius is ruled by Uranus, planet of revolution, paradigm shifts, and thinking ninety degrees from the norm.

Because the way they allocate elements in that particular system completely ignores the nature of the character that the star sign represents.
 
However, if you go by the “planetary rulers” system (another way that star signs were grouped by element), Aquarius is lucky enough to be water.
