Given that helium balloons contain mixed alpha and beta particles, I suspect Maud was trolling Derpy. And while I dislike the character of Milky Way intensely, the backstory Derpy outlines makes a lot of sense.

I think she’s referring only to gamma, alpha, and beta radiation :q
