Definitely…although the last one seems to imply you’re confusing Starlight with Science Twi/Sunset, because I’m pretty sure Starlight wasn’t in Camp Everfree.

S07E02 claims as much. Stronger emotion equate to stronger magic. Love and friendship, rage, power mad, confusion (though, being the temporal double of a powerful unicorn probably helped, lol), eh, I guess her passion for Camp Everfree, kind of weird, but eh. (I’ll admit the latter three do work somewhat differently because human magic is even more unknowable than pony. >w< )

To be frank, her magic is just very strong. The show has given us implication that Starlight’s always been very skillful with magic, with not just stealing cutie marks, which is why I think some find a good contrast between her and Twilight: Both were skillful unicorns with impressive raw magic, except the differences are of course, their paths onwards:
 
Twilight —> Sent away to Ponyville —> Made friends —> Became god Princess  
Starlight —> Lost close friend —> Developed hatred for Cutie Marks –> Soviet Town –> Insane magic shit –> Redemption nobody will get over with

Still don’t know why this series doesn’t have a semi-grimdark tag on all issues.

Maybe Rarity was the creator of that specific spell but there are unicorns like Starswirl who created over 200 spells in his life time and has a section of a library dedicated to his creations.
 
I’ve always considered spells to be like songs with two aspects; writing them and performing them. I realized this when the show introduced magically gifted unicorns like Starlight and Sunburst. Starlight is compared to a person with a very good singing voice so when she performs the spells, they’re very pronounced. While Sunburst, though he does not have a good singing voice of his own, understands composition of melody and lyrics so he can effectively combine spells or even potentially create his own later on.

Unicorns and magic are unpredictable, unstable, and apparently takes a lifetime of study to fully understand. To me, Cutie Mark Chronicles made it sound as if Rarity was the actual inventor the gem finding spell or some shite. Obviously, this is how I’ll perceive the creation of magicks until it can be said otherwise, though. ^3^

i doubt her talent is specifically stealing cutie-marks, i would think that would be a spell she either made or found i mean she did find starswirles time travel spell and made it better. starlight is really OP

Actually we don’t. What we know is very little. Starlight’s an ordinary unicorn pony born in a nameless village. She attended no known magic school yet her magical abilities are off the charts. We don’t even really know if she tried to contact Sunburst. Or was it Sunburst’s fault that they were unable to contact each other. Many details of their separation was left open to interpretation. Unlike Moondancer who locked herself away after Twilight left, Starlight decided to do something about her sadness upon her separation from Sunburst. Something motivated her to “save” other ponies from the sadness that she experienced. We’ll probably never know what.
