Saw all those episodes finally.

I’d say it’s been a good season so far. “Obsessive ponies” seems to be a recurring theme.

There was a mention that we’d get to see them. It could be a flashback, but I didn’t get that impression.

@Wiimeiser
I can hardly be the judge of that, but I’m also used to less language policing on the telly anyway. I do understand that the showrunners can’t just keep using her name for mixed reasons, my point was that much like Derpy there may be valid reasons to never address the status of scootaloo’s parents. Such as the question of pony afterlife. Or whether they want to drive home the idea that sometimes people die frightfully young, and for no real reason either. Any position they’ll take on that will get someone’s knickers in a twist across the pond.

Offensive. Please ban.

You could have a point. Still, I’m starting to get the feeling MLP could turn into Disovery’s version of SpongeBob. Isn’t it the only show that premiered on the first day of the Hub that’s still on the air?

I generally agree, but I will say I do see FCF9’s point, this could’ve gone over much better had Rainbow been more considerate. Which is an entirely different can of worms.
On Scootaloo, I’m not convinced she’s an orphan just yet - much like we for the longest time got bits and pieces that seemed to point to the Apple parents being dead, with apparently an episode coming up that puts the kibosh on that thesis. They might as well present us with scootaloo’s parents some other episode, or just never address it (not unlike a certain pegasus’ name the show won’t acknowledge again).

Rainbow doesn’t need to feel a certain way about her parents. If she doesn’t like their over-the-top support, that’s her prerogative. Also, we never knew that Scootaloo didn’t have supportive parents, and neither did Rainbow Dash.
I will concede, though, she probably should have told them something a long time ago instead of avoiding the issue for years.
Speaking of Scootaloo’s parents, is it just slowly becoming canon that she’s an orphan?

More like, as Scootaloo pointed out, that Dash took for granted that kind of support. Yes, they’re overzealous, but unlike Rarity and Pinkie, who were out of touch AND overzealous, RD’s parents were just overzealous. All of this could have been avoided if Dash had just talk to her parents. Instead, she intentionally shut her parents out of her life. Maud could tell Pinkie was more or less thinking about herself rather than herself, so she left. Rarity had been so busy, she barely made time for her little sister she supposed to be caring for, so Sweetie outgrew her. Yes, Dash’s parents were embarrassing, and because they embarrassed her, and she never talked to them about it, she literally cut them out of her life when she moved to Ponyville. Rainbow Dash did indeed take her parents for granted, her snapping at them was a slap in the face to Scootaloo, whom we now know has never known that kind of support and devotion. Bow and Windy weren’t in the right, but their hearts were in the right place. RD was wrong. She knew she was wrong, and then she made it right.

Ah, interesting. No wonder it’s hard to find the newer episodes… (On Youtube, I’m getting annoyed by the amount of “so-and-so reacts,” or “Watch as I talk through the whole episode, and try to be funny” videos… It’s making it impossible to find them.)

Good God, I didn’t know we were up to episode 7 already! I missed the past 3 episodes! (Though I just watched “Forever Filly” which was cute.)

It occurred to me that each of them was genuinely justified in their distance, but only Rainbow Dash was held to be in the wrong, since they’re her parents and clearly no matter how insanely obsessive they are about her even to the present, Rainbow just has to embrace it, because ponies exist who don’t have parents like that. I suppose Sweetie Belle gets away with her rejection because Rarity isn’t smothering her all that often.
And of course Rainbow’s parents acted perfectly normal and reserved when she put together that apology show for them. They were barely touched by the sudden attention their daughter gave them.
