of course you know what’s really going to happen. they’re going to take the huge loss, go into debt with mags the signmaker, all so they can have the satisfaction of smashing up peppermint’s sign outside her window while she’s locked in her room. of course, the only lesson that ever teaches is undying hatred, but parents never learn. their relationship deteriorates from there, until they learn that the price for the new sign is their firstborn child, when mags calls FPS on them and then adopts peppermint as a foster parent.
or uh, something like that.
Yeeeuup. I dearly hope Pepper stands up for herself and that their customers, once they see and comment (hopefully favourably) on the new sign make them realize what utter boneheads they’ve been.
All of their excuses fall short of sparking any sort of sympathy, and they’re all pretty hypocritical to boot. They complain about not being able to repair their old sign/have a new sign made and then jump on her when she does it for free. They even bring up using the wood, which is revealed to have been saved for some sort of gift for the mayor (though what a couple of bakers with a phobia against any skills outside their talents were supposed to do with it is anyone’s guess) but also reveal that they’ve not done anything with it since they got it. So really it feels like they’re angry she did something amazing OUTSIDE her cutie mark.
