Hmm. Evenone may be jumping to “Chrysalis is in charge”, but… I’m not so sure. Those look like Discord’s vines… and we might be seeing “metaphor” that the good side of her is “locked away”…
 
But on the other hand, if it’s literal, then it would easily explain why Celestia turned on even Spike and is using him as cannon fodder to flush out the last of the resistance.
