40 minutes well spent. Phew, that was entertaining. Once again, poni shows surprising depth.
You can do this with Equestria Girls’s spells and songs too. I didn’t do so, both due to the image being big enough already, and potentially people blocking the EQG tag.
Also a departure from my usual stuff. I am normally more ingrained in science or physical structures… Ah well. this is something the fandom hasn’t really looked at, anyway. I find it interesting.

God damn (no pun intended), that would be so freaking awesome. I dig those sorts of stories so freaking much.
When it comes to stories like that, it boils down to one question:
Can our our species be trusted to save itself?
The villain’s answer is “No, it cannot. Only through my guidance and protection can they survive.”
The hero’s answer is “I honestly don’t know if they can or not. But… I have to let them try.”
The semi-sentience of the Elements, Tree, and Map, and also kinda of The Spark first seen inside Twilight during S01E02, has always made me think there was an even higher entity presumably “helping” the Mane Six from her or his invisible parallel dimension. Y’know, the general setup to every God-killing plotline in JRPGs?
While I’d think writers and other staff may deem something like the proceeding too intensive a moral: “Don’t follow the will of others no matter how good or remarkable they may seem (like God) if their messages or actions seem less than genuine (still like God), follow your own heart and make your own decisions based on what you feel is right and good.”, I’d like think a invisible ever-present entity of Harmony who eventually betrays the ponies and so they have to kill her or him, it’d be an excellent fanfic or comic concept. X3

Hmm. I wonder if there’s an intelligence at work with the dimension. The type possessed by the Tree of Harmony and the Cutie Map. If so, certain things make a bit more sense.
True. What we can confirm, however, is that some strong emotional power-source is required to get someone there.
The book doesn’t say it, but I think it’s very fair to assume that Cadance had Prismia undo the love-drain spell, releasing it all at once. Reversing that spell was her entire objective in confronting Prismia, after all.
As for what specifically triggered the transportation… no idea. That dimension in general is still a pretty big mystery. What is it? How precisely does one get there? When did Celestia discover it? Many unanswered questions. One thing that’s highly likely is that it’s in some way connected to the Alicorn transformation, since our two confirmed cases both involve it.
But we can safely conclude that Starswirl’s spell and the Elements of Harmony are not required for the transformation process to take place.
Well, that seems to fit nicely! Two large fonts of emotion - but, Cadance had a pretty rediculous amount of love flowing around her, which would be enough to power a teleportation to whatever this mysterious realm is. My theory still holds ;)
Also; i’m assuming Cadance released the love. That could also power it - the question then becomes, what was the actual spell that channeled that energy? Perhaps an unexpected consequence of one of the enchantress’s spells?

I reread the relevant passages from Twilight Sparkle and the Crystal Heart Spell. Cadance explains that she was found in a forest as a baby Pegasus and adopted by some Earth Ponies from a nearby village, where she grew up. Her upbringing was a happy one due to her affinity for spreading love and compassion. But living near that same village was an evil pony enchantress named Prismia, who was jealous of the village ponies for how much they all loved each other. She also had a magical necklace that amplified her evil and jealousy (Just to be clear, Prismia’s necklace and the alicorn amulet are definitely two different things). Eventually Prismia cast a love-draining spell on the village, making everypony sad.
What happens next, I’m transcribing word-for-word:
Cadance decided that she couldn’t let that happen, so she went to see Prismia. Luckily, the enchantress’s powerful necklace also amplified the power of Cadance’s love, and she soon defeated Prismia with her incredible gift of compassion. Once Prismia changed her horrible ways, Cadance was surrounded by magical energy and transported to a strange place—a place that nopony except Princess Celestia had ever been! So when Celestia discovered special little Cadance in that mysterious location, her fate was sealed. The princess brought her back to Canterlot to raise her as her very own royal niece—the special and loving Princess Cadance.
It goes on to say that spreading love wherever she went had always been her special talent, and that she turned two families of rival ponies into best friends as her final exam at Celestia’s school of magic. Funnily enough, her transformation isn’t directly acknowledged. But it clearly did take place.
Another detail of note is that Cadance kept Prismia’s magical necklace from then on up until this book (it’s a plot point for the rest of the story), so it’s entirely possible that she had the necklace with her when she was sent to the strange dimension.

I don’t know the specifics, but Cadance surely had a strong power source to get to that dimension - even just an incredibly strong emotion?
Not quite. While they certainly did seem to transport her to that odd dimension, they’re not at all required for either accessing that dimension or for transforming. Granted, at the time that MMC was released it was perfectly logical to conclude that the elements, Starswirl’s spell, and Alicornization were linked. With the information we had back then, it made sense.
But it later became clear that this was not the case once we learned Cadance’s backstory. She was was originally a pegasus that underwent the same transformation process as Twilight. Only thing is, her transformation did not (and could not) involve the Elements or Starswirl’s spell. The only two common factors between Cadance’s and Twilight’s transformations are Celestia and that weird dimension.
I guess, Celestia gave Twilight her wings, and presumably until otherwise said, Cadance her horn, but perhaps the Elements gave them their immortality. Also, the laser that killed her may have not been the only reason they’re immortal.
Just being the souls connected to the Elements could be enough of a prerequisite. Getting the Elements, Starswirl’s spell, taking them to the Tree, receiving their magic from the Box, following… Is it not called The Map of Harmony? I guess I’ve forgotten. X3
Actually, i’d state that the elements of harmony are; their beams fired at Twilight when she finished it. They were the ‘power source’, though Celestia was needed to give her a final push

I suppose the unnerving thing about it is that we simply have no idea what exactly will happen if we live “too long”. We don’t know what’ll happen, but if the anti-aging research is a success, we’ll eventually find out.

I guess there’s the possibility that the brain will just overwrite previous memories, though that IS also a possiblity (which we could overcome with stem cell therapy, perhaps)
It’s actually a really awesomely creepy story, and I recommend reading it.
But for now, the basic gist and my point is this: It’s about the crew of a spaceship going on a very, very long nonstop voyage to a distant planet. Their nuclear drives have way more than enough power to get there, and they’ve extended their own lives indefinitely using new nanomachine tech.
The one particular thing that happens during their voyage that I’m referring to is that at one point during the voyage, long after they’ve exceeded the natural lifespan of their species, crew members start developing anterograde amnesia. I.E. they can’t form new memories. It’s explained in the story that their brains evolved with the expectation that they’d only live for around 100 years or so. But with immortality, their brains are running out of memory space.
It’s obvious when you actually start analyzing, but I doubt many people have separated the rhyming words out from each spell and attempted to see if they make any sense :P I did so early on, but kept quiet on it for however many years.

While parts may be obvious, others may not - the messages within the rhyming words, mainly. Starswirl’s spell makes it look like a power source isn’t necessary, though it IS anomalous in nature (as Twi says, it doesn’t make sense)
I’ve seen university professors stating that aging is likely reversible. The credibility is growing… You should see the first hints of this in Senescent Cell Clearance Therapy in between 5-10 years. Maybe give 2 or 3, but it’s the closest.
