Even water is toxic in sufficient quantities. (Yes, look up “water intoxication”.) But “edible” bananas have undeveloped seeds (the little black specs) and I’m not finding any online references about them being recognized as toxic. Of course they can always absorb toxins from the environment.

While there are few studies, most sources I’m finding online suggest that while they may not be pleasant (especially raw), they’re not toxic. I’ve found no reference to cyanide, but have found a warning about pesticides.

Trivia time: Banana peels are edible, and they can even be good for you. (For that matter, so are apple cores.)
