It’s all the same reasons that writers don’t read fanfic or the like. While all of the brony fanfic is a derivative work of Hasbro, the author still also has copyrights to the work, including novel characters (which for all purposes, Nightmare Star/Solar Flare is). So while all the situations we put the existing characters into, Hasbro wouldn’t necessary get into trouble, borrowing a new fan-made character without permission would lead to problems.
 
This is the reason that “Keep Calm and Flutter On” has a unique “Story By” credit to a fan who had given Meghan the idea for that episode, so that all copyright concerns that the fan might push towards Hasbro are voided.

Keep in mind, if Hasbro used the fandom name or even the CCG name, they could be in copyright problems, particularly given we’re talking a rather unique character (the evil form of Celestia).
 
I’m sure there’s cases where the show has used a new named pony that someone’s fic or OC named the same pre-dates it, but very unlikely used in a very specific manner so that the same name is just happenstance. But here it would be far too visible that they could claim innocence on it.

They finally gave Celestia an nightmare form after 7 whole seasons to match Luna’s Nightmare Moon form and it’s named ‘Daybreaker’?! …Really Hasbro?
 
However, I do like the name ‘Solar Flare’ better.

Nightmare Moon - Solar Flare? …Sounds fine to me.  
Nightmare Moon - Nova Sun? …Hmm, The name sounds fine too but it’s a bit too short.  
Nightmare Moon - Hasbro’s Day Breaker? Nope.  
Nightmare Moon - Nightmare Sun? Nah. The ‘Nightmare’ doesn’t match the ‘Sun’ part since it’s at night time.  
Nightmare Moon - Super Nova? …Nah. It sounds too overpowered.  
Nightmare Moon - Nova Star? …It’s close but the ‘Star’ at the end sounds like something I’d name Princess Luna.
 
…Yeah, ‘Solar Flare’ for Celestia’s nightmare form is perfect. Nice call on that one Background Pony #A82B.
 
Funny thing is that you probably stole the ‘Solar Flare’ idea from the Dragonball anime series didn’t you? Well, no matter… The name works fine so we’ll use that.

Its nice to see the writers choose a new name then what the fans have come up with for the concept of an evil Celestia. Though I think Kid Icarus: Uprising claimed the name first. XD
