It is cute and hilarious for all the reasons you thought it would be, and I also figured Cady would be up for pretty much anything. Shiny’s probably gotten more than a few surprises when it comes to things she wanted to try, especially impossible ones that alicorn-grade magic can make possible.

Believe it or not, that sort of thing really didn’t go into our thought process when Atomic Chinchilla and I started up this tumblr. Though I can certainly understand that it would look that way.
Honestly, really all it boiled down to was that we both liked Shining Armor, and I suggested that genderswapping him could lead to a bunch of funny, wacky hi-jinx. Granted, that would probably apply to most of the ponies, but when we first cooked up the idea, we were both still thinking about the recent royal wedding episode and how much we liked Shining Armor.
And of course, we COULD make it so that Cadance was completely straight and was no longer attracted to Shining, but like I just said, this is meant to be a comedy more than anything else (albeit with some dramatic and more serious moments thrown in), and making Cadance leave Shining would probably make it more into a tragedy than anything else. We didn’t want that.
Besides, it’s not a big leap from canon Cadance to her being a bisexual. She IS the Alicorn of love, after all. That probably encompasses all forms of love.
We see her as sorta a pony Aphrodite. Right down to a personal headcanon of mine being that she rose from the foam of the sea, but that’s another story entirely.
Basically, this tumblr isn’t out of some misplaced sense that all relationships must be lesbian in MLP or anything like that. It’s just meant to be a fun tumblr, not meant to be taken all that seriously.
