I mean, technically we’ve never seen Hondo without his hat on, which really shouldn’t be able to cover up a horn. I like the theory that her dad is actually an earth pony, which is why she’s trying to live a nouveau riche lifestyle and rarely ever interacts with her family outside of Sweetie; she comes from a middle class or even lowbrow lineage, and her dad not being a unicorn would emphasize that.
