I’ve seen companies take unfinished scenes and put them into trailers. A keen eye can see when it’s totally crummy effect/acting, only for it to be scrubbed when a better take is made.

Having watched the actual movie, I can attest that the final version has a better quality than this. I guess they took a pre-final render from the movie for the trailer before they finished cleaning up the movie and doing the final 3D renders.

And I likely would be, were I not frustrated with how people are freaking over this probably unfinished footage that’s likely only as noticeable as it is because people have insisted on running a fine tooth comb through every frame of the trailer.
 
But that is not to be, apparently, so here we are.

I suspect you’d find more talk about the animation in the comments of images showing actual animation. This image is about an airship that looks like it came sailing in from the last century.

I was expecting everyone to be having a jolly good time tittering at the chintzy animation. To my great disappointment, I observed a roiling mass of catty feinting and the shedding of crocodile tears. God’s balls! ಠ_ಠ
 
The strongest point in this project’s favor is that at least it’s not another loathsome Equestria Girls production.

I think, for the most part, some of us just like finding things to complain about. That’s not to say there aren’t legitimate criticisms, but they’re minor in the grand scheme of things and the people willing to equate the quality of a 3d model to the quality of the entire movie didn’t want to like the movie to begin with and weren’t going to unless it was completely flawless.

But seriously, while there’s certainly some fans jumping to defend the movie from even the mildest of complaints, it’s pretty obvious most people are just tired of those who pounce on one detail that’s not to their liking and proclaiming it’s proof the movie’s ruined.

This is gonna be real bad, this thing looks like it was recorded video output on an N64. And indeed if it was recorded video output of an N64 that’d be awesome. Alas this is not an N64 and that my friends, is terrible.

…I’ve just realized how totally pointless everything that happened in Wrath of Khan really was. They really did just write the whole movie out of continuity in Star Trek III didn’t they?
 
And actually, there seems to be some efforts going on to draw the franchise together. How far they’ll go is anyone’s guess, but I wouldn’t make any definitive statements.
 
…I doubt that Emily Blunt is going to be a regular cast member though.

I’m not going to go into that whole debacle regarding the canon status of Equestria Girls. What I am going to say is that just because something doesn’t have any bearing on the whole doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy what we’re given. It’s not like our memories or feelings will be wiped after seeing this movie. Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan didn’t have any large bearing on Star Trek‘s canon but it’s still a fantastic movie.

The animation quality is good for the rest of the trailer but I don’t see the story going anywhere. Even if it does, it’s going into the same “doesn’t really exist” pocket that the EQG stuff goes on in and has no effect on the series.

You will enjoy the movie, and they won’t. And their lives will always be a little bit emptier for it.

What am I saying? Of course I’m a goddamn fanboy. I love this show. That’s why I’m on this website, trying to enjoy the thing I love. And then some nutshacks show up to blast the thing I love with blanket statements and low-brow insults. Constructive critique and perspective, what’s that?
 
This ship effect sucks. But I’m more concerned with how awesome the rest of the trailer was.

I honestly agree with you there. I don’t see this movie doing anything a season opener/finale doesn’t already do, but the season finale/opening actually, you know, matters in the grand line of things. This movie most likely won’t have any reflection on the tv series, and if it did, it will spoil however season 7 closes, or it’s situated before season 7 starts, which means it really doesn’t mean anything as it goes “status quo” and everything goes back to normal by the end of it and anyone involved/befriended is instantly forgotten.
