No idea. All we’re told is that they died, has has been dead for quite a while. That’s why AJ is the most developed of the Mane Six, and why her family consist of her brother, sister, and grandmother.

My theory is Pear Butter went birthing Applebloom and Brightmac died of some kind of heart break. Maybe a “farm accident”

I didn’t see much over the show…only a few episodes of each season…
It wasn’t very hidden through out the show, hinted in a few episodes, and an AJ episode where two shooting stars representing them appear, with Jim (the director of the show) confirmed that theory.

Bright Mac and Pear Butter. They’re the parents of the Apple kids, and were shown in flashback form in the episode Perfect Pear. It’s a great episode in my book.
