We’ve already had fancy anime fights. I guess I could do with another one of those featuring my favorite character. I guess that’s fine.
I mean, Rarity mined their land, either work to pay it off or get dragged through legal protocal, and we both know the Mane Six never get dragged like that, no matter how deserving.
And virtue of being first is literally all one can claim when it comes to land, countries included.
And while they might dig quickly, I doubt they all can forge metal and build as quickly, and they definately have a well entrenched security force, brigg and smithing for the carts and rails.
They have to have been there for at least half a decade.

Using slave labor a stone’s throw from the seat of three alicorns? Two of witch curb-stomped the only large scale slaver so far shown on screen, AKA Sombra, in person so hard it took him a freaking millennia to recover for a take two?
Granted, they might have had a claim on the simple basis of being there first… if not for the highly illegal and immoral taking of slaves thing.
Think a far simpler explanation is how good the DD’s are at digging. Hard to boot somebody of your land, if most the average traveler will notice is a few dirt mounds.
As far as we knew the original three did as well.
Kinda hard to imagine that that kind of mine was a secret with it’s size and infrastructure, especially that close to a town.
