Admittedly my father (who plays the violin) tried learning the cello and told me it’s a whole different beast to the smaller violin and viola, so Tavi here would basically be relearning everything trying to play a violin. I’d believe that “just learning to play” bit to explain that awkward position, because I honestly dropped my elbow a bit too much when I was new too, but not quite this badly.
 
That basically explains everything except the bow being under the strings, which I suspect to be a layering error. Eh. It happens to the best of us.

As a violist, just looking at this positioning hurts. That violin/viola is tilted way too far forwards (which makes at least a little sense for a new player. I did the same myself when I was learning in an attempt to get a better eye on my finger placements). Her bow arm is way too low even for the high E/A string (depending on whether it’s violin or viola), and that would make it really tough to get the movements you need to play. On top of that, the strings seem to be above the bow, which looks like some sort of layer issue.
 
Tavi is good in this pic, but agggh this is not even close to how you play a violin or viola properly.
