I never thought I would see someone saying to starlight: its all your fault… and being thorax make it even weirdier

…ugh, the memories are returning.
funny how? funny like a clown? :P
I won’t deny that MegaAnimationFan went a little too far in venting about his frustration with all the baseless hate directed at Starlight, but you’re not helping with this tirade. No one is denying that Starlight is divisive a character or your right to dislike her. Moreover, the mod already intervened and warned him to calm down or else, so why are you still continuing to pick a fight?
@Ihhh
It seems a lot of his comments about Starlight boil down to that.
Your whole argument boils down to “my opinion on starlight is objective fact because I say so and people agree with me.” That is exactly what you’re saying.
I’d tell you to learn to take a joke, but oh boy, you’d probably get mad about that as well. Woohoo kiddo, you’re some case. ^^U
But I’ll level with you, so maybe you can do for yourself what you’re asking of others and finally get something. See, saying “I don’t like Starlight” is giving an opinion. Saying “I prefer Rarity over Rainbow Dash” is giving an opinion. Saying that “Season 98 was the best” is giving an opinion. Saying “I find Flash Sentry a compelling character” is giving an opinion, I mean, a very stupid opinion, but you do you, everypone. ಠ_ಠ
Saying “Starlight’s writing is below average” (and that’s being generous), however, is NOT just a completely subjective opinion, or else we just wouldn’t be here, having this discussion. This isn’t the same as some fans just not being comfortable with changes to the status quo or what’ll have ya. Fans were troubled – to say the list – about Cadence being an Alicorn, but they’ve moved past that. Many were conflicted about Twilight becoming a princess, myself included, but we’ve grown to accept it over time or at least learned how to live with it, regardless of whether we think it was a good change or not. Changing the library for the castle, the Changelings becoming Changedlings, the ReMane 5 giving up the Elements of Harmony, Equestria Girls, Flurry Heart, you name it, people had some drama about it but they’ve moved on.
Yes, yes, I know there’s always that little handful that are still bitter about some of those, but how often do you hear about that drama compared to this?
Starlight Glimmer – as in, reformed Starlight Glimmer, ‘cause freaking nobody had problems with her as a villain as far as I can tell – has been around for over a Season and half and she’s still making a good portion of the fanbase bitter with her presence because of countless reasons I won’t bother to list here because I’ve done it before, and then indirectly getting on the nerves of others because those fans she pisses off supposedly sully the experience of the fandom. Ever thought if it wasn’t due to her we wouldn’t be ever be discussing in the first place?
And if you need further proof that Starlight is far more divisive than anything that came before her or even after her (like seriously, the noise around the reformed Changelings was borderline nonexistent in comparison), then by all means, do this yourself: Search “Drama” in this very site, sort the search results by the amount of comments, and see what you find. And if you don’t want, lemme tell you: There’s Starlight Drama before freaking Flash Hate, there’s two posts of Starlight Drama before any Twilicorn drama. And then if that’s not enough, search “Discussion in the comments”, order by comments, and you’ll see Starlight’s all over the most commented results.
This level of heated debate and continuous dislike isn’t something as simple as an “opinion”, but proof that it’s rooted in something deeper than just that, and while I could deconstruct that, it really all boils down to her character being surrounded by bad writing, writing that has to bend itself over backwards for her sake, including but not limited to: Making her OP as fuck just because, rewriting her complete character in the last five minutes of an episode, making everyone around her be stupid, incompetent or useless in order to give her an opportunity to look good, or else have just about everyone be forgiving of her fuck-ups to extents that freaking Jesus would frown at.
All these and more are the reasons for which people complain about her, all involved with downright unquestionable bad writing. And no, people will NOT stop complaining if there’s reasons for it, and so long as the show keeps providing reasons to complain about Starlight because nearly every episode featuring her prominently has at least one prominent issue, so until that is fixed – or the writers do everyone a favor and just do away with her character – then be assured: There will be drama. If you don’t wanna deal with that, then honest to goodness, do yourself a favor and block the “Starlight Drama” tag. You’ll sleep easier.
And last by not least, I never actually called anything “objectively worthless”, or acted like whatever “anything” is was such, and I’d really appreciate it if you could withhold from trying to put words in mouth that I never said. Even I know Starlight’s character has its potential and worth, but just as that’s a fact, so is that her writing is notoriously flawed, perhaps the most the show has presented in its entire run.
You can enjoy Starlight’s character, I’m not going to guilt you for that or suggest there’s anything wrong with you ‘cause there just ain’t. But try to at least recognize that if you’re hoping for her to keep on doing exactly as she’s been doing, you’re basically asking for the drama to continue on and on. And remember that, just as you’re entitled to voice your appreciation for her, so am I - and any of the many that share my view - to express our disdain. If you wish to engage us, feel absolutely free to go right ahead, but know all you’ll get is having us remind you of all the troubles in Starlight’s writing, whether you wanna see them or not.
So be it.
If you are no longer able to engage with others on this image in a civil manner, please unsubscribe from the image.
If that’s what you wanna call it, i won’t stop you.
What else do you expect from this fandom. This happens all the time.
@PonyPon
Oh I’m sure they do. I’m just the only one who has the guts to say it.

Don’t think anyone actively wished physical harm on an entire group.

I felt the “from this point on” bit would have been implied for MegaAnimationFan. And no I am not being hypocritical. While I admittedly can be passionate when arguing my stance, I have never descended to personal attacks, yelling with caps lock, or even using profanity. I also never described myself as a “horrible monster”; I merely was reiterating what you thought of me.
That said, I do hope we are both able to take away something from this, and I do share your aspirations that the course Starlight’s character has been placed on in this episode will continue.
@PonyPon
Have a little imagination, will you? Although the original context of my comment was My Little Pony, that mindset can apply a multitude of different situations in life.

He said, without adding “from this point on”, as if pretending the two of them have not been taking the hypocritical starlight critic-hater fanatic route for quite some time.
Quit with the high and mighty hypocritical attitude, and maybe people will stop treating you like, as you put it, a horrible monster.
@cloudkicker108
Glad we agree.
@MegaAnimationFan
Unlike him, your not even trying to be amicable. Your simply filled to the brim with more critic-hate and bile then most critics could ever achieve. All you want to do is lash out.
When her writing improves, her critics will disperse. Until then, you simply have to live with the critics.
Or create more hate or drama. Its your choice, I don’t know your cup of tea. Some people love being angry, or trick themselves into being angry.

He said, in reference to arguing about cartoons.
@MegaAnimationFan
I entirely understand how you feel–I’ve dealt with more than my fair share of unscrupulous and unreasonable haters–but stooping to their level just to fire back at them is only going to make things worse. You should remain civil and take the high road; if nothing else, it’ll show that you are a much at stronger person than they are.
EXACTLY!! That’s my issue with these people! Finally, someone understands what kind of BS I’ve had to deal with on a regular basis.
They seem to have an innate need for everyone to hate her as much as they do, and are hellbent on beating it in to people.
Then they sit back and complain the “Starlight defenders” are worse because they won’t buckle under.
Hey, believe it or not I’ve tried being more respectful ever since this stupid hatred started back in the end of 2015. But you know what? This crazy thing happened, it never payed off.
What I’m trying to say is: What’s the point?
