Definitely still weird– and still oddly off-model from the cartoon– but I like these hecka better than the originals; the faces have actual character and expressiveness to them, and they look like they’re hopefully a bit better constructed than the flimsy trashplastic of the first dolls. I’ll probably pick up the Applejack if the price hasn’t increased too much.

It’s almost unanimous, the faces suck. Everything else is very good.
 
But I’m sticking with the Minis, I find it odd that they are not even trying to be cartoon accurate.
 
It’s very obvious that whoever is in-charge, calling the shots, does not want to make cartoon accurate toys.
 
I am starting to get use to them, but I’m not buying them; And If Hasbro ends the Minis after the Park and Beach Series, I’m still not buying the Dolls.

I was excited after seeing how good the Minis turned out. These look…..bad. Very awkward faces, and only elbow articulation 😕
 
Clothes are better, at least. I do think Sunset looks the best of them all, so I’ll probably pic her up, but everyone else…

I’m not a doll fan at all, but:
 
  1. Pinkie is really cute. Sunset is not bad.  
  2. Hair looks good on all of them.  
  3. Heads are a little too round, like a porcelain doll. Maybe real doll fans like that? EQG characters have more pronounced cheekbones and sharper chins.  
  4. Some of the expressions don’t sit right. Maybe it’s the lipstick? They don’t have visible lipstick in the show.  
  5. Irises should be a hair smaller.  
  6. No more hoof boots. Good.

ew, they feel so close to uncanny valley. Sunset, AJ and RB have a look like saying “what are you gonna do with that tiny thing?”
