In addition, this movie was written before s5. So FS isnt actually gonna have much more character than looking sad and being scared. Im afraid this movie will be a big fuck you to all aj and Fs fans, because they cant just “do funny short gags” and actually need something to work with

I’d argue that a nearly 2-hour-long movie would be ample time to give six main characters their own moments scattered throughout the run-time. They don’t necessarily each need their own sequences or story arcs, but it’d be nice if they had SOMETHING to contribute instead of being almost completely irrelevant.
 
From what it looks like, Pinkie is going to be the center of the main conflict with Twilight in the third act and the one who leads the group to save her. I think that this would have been a perfect role for Applejack to fill, not because I’m against characters going against type or anything, but because it would have given her something significant to do that would make sense for her and it wouldn’t take anything away from the movie.

It would be nice, but realistically: you have about 15 principle characters with about 7 of those needing establish backstory, AND you have to skim over the backstory of the Mane 6 and Spike. And you have 90 minutes to tell a complete story.
 
Something has to give, and that likely involves putting any key story or humor elements invloving the two most grounded ponies FS anD AJ to the side. They will do stuff, I am sure we will get a Stare out of FS and some bucking by AJ, but they are not likely the memorial scenes or jokes.

I don’t know what other planets do with movie trailers, but on Earth they fill them up with action and comedy scenes or any other scene with bright lights and colours and shit.
 
The full feature film will probably have Applejack and Fluttershy do other shit, especially with Fluttershy in Mad Max Land and Seaquestria, and Applejack will definitely beat up some guys. <3<

Pretty sure we all know it’s more that Pinkie is one of their most marketed characters and wacky gags for her to do are easier to write and for a general audience of mostly children to digest.

It could be (I have no idea) that with the double-character VAing that Andrea and Ashley have, they had one of each of their characters pushed a bit to the side so not to wear on their voices/avoid overcasting them compared to the star power of the film.

FS and AJ seem to be the two with the least importance of the mane 6 in everything we’ve seen /spoiled (I’ve not read 100% of the adaption). TS is obviously main focus for good reason, PP is major comedy relief, Rarity is the Flanders of the group for more comedy, and RD is action girl and pirate fanatic. Nothing presents shows much “need” for FS or AJ to be there outside to ground the group/Twilight, so I don’t expect their parts to be significant.

Well….. at least they gave her something to do
