26 million doesn’t seem so bad for a movie with a budget of around 5-8 million.

Actually, reports say the majority of ticket holders were girls under 13 and their parents, as one might expect, had not the franchise that movie is based on accumulated a sizable adult male fanbase, lol. X3

I bought a ticket online at my local CineMark but didn’t go; I watched the leaked version instead so I could:

Okay. Let me explain this since I’m a friend of the ARTIST, Amarth. U all know the movie source was leaked by those Russian Hackers (or who ever they are), and the movie won’t be imported by China until November or even later.  
Yes, me and the artist, we’re both Chinese (Although I’m living in US and had already seen the movie. Tee-hee.)  
I know, there’s a large amount of Chinese bronies, and some of them can’t help them self downloading the sources, then they’ll spread them, and they won’t go to the theater after that. That will be a really bad impact, so a group of us started to call for the ban of the leaked sources, and Amarth made this for them.  
I hope we all understand how important that our money and tickets meant to Hasbro. So please, no matter how awesome or terrible the movie is, as long as you are a brony, support Hasbro and dhx for our ponies.

I’m quite good with that head canon ^_ Pinkie was the ‘to me’ only real saving grace to the movie past the first ten minutes that I quite enjoyed. Taking the movie as AU helps eliminate a lot of the flaws.

I want to reward them for making an MLP movie that’s not high school gorillas.
 
But I also want to urge them to patch all the holes in their plots - or even better, don’t have so many to begin with - before they commit it to screen.
 
It was Equestria, but more than the animation and stuff makes it feel like it was an AU.
 
You know what? I’m just gonna roll with the headcanon that it was an AU where Twilight is a lot less powerful. That fixes almost everything.
 
And where there’s no royal guard or Shining Armor somehow.
