Yeah my personal opinion is that what Twilight did wasn’t that bad. To the seaponies. (Novo is a jerk, just saying. More on that later in the comic.) Manipulating her friends is the real crime, but I think due to her desperation it was in character.

That’s a big part of why I think a lot of people overreacted to “A Canterlot Wedding”. Twilight spent a significant part of the first half of the two-parter acting irrational and pointlessly angry, offering no evidence to support her ranting, and giving everyone the constant impression that she was biased and trying to find reasons to oppose the wedding for the sake of it. She gave her friends no reason to believe her and plenty not to – we know in hindsight she was sort of right, and I think a lot of people let that cloud their judgment.

In the film, though, Twilight was right. Stealing is bad, sure, but Equestria was being enslaved. Thousands of ponies. That’s serious and Twi was correct in concluding that certain rules can and should be broken to save it.
 
Committing a lesser evil to prevent a greater one is an age-old concept. It’s even recognized in many legal systems; look up “necessity defense”.
 
Queen Novo had said she would not help; her word seemed final. There was no way for Twilight to predict she could be won over by a song. Telling her friends would’ve risked exposing the plan, or having them try to prevent it. She took a calculated risk and lost, but the decision was sound.
 
Twilight is the kind of leader I’d want.
 
Finally, for everyone criticizing her; what should Twilight have done, in your opinion, when faced with nearly no options and all of Equestria suffering at the mercy of a hostile army? Head back home with nothing and hope for the best?

In the wedding situation Twilight really was acting jealous and irrational. The instant she read the invitation, before she even knew who “Mi Amore Cadenza” was, she was already angry with the whole thing. Listen to her complaints about Cadance throughout, from the prespective of the others. They do sound weak and grasping, like she’s just looking for reasons to dislike the bride.
 
One scene people keep forgetting when they say “Twilight’s friends should’ve listened to her”… they did. Remember when they were at that table outside, and they all gave their perspective on Cadance? Twilight just got more and more angry, eventually slammed the table and left. Twilight was the one who shut down the conversation.
 
At the rehearsal, she busted in, and stated that she would not stand beside Cadance at the wedding. Then she accused her of being “evil”, and smiled when Cadance cried. That’s just cruel. None of the evidence she gave held up.
 
From her friends’ justified perspective, Twilight was the unreasonable one.
 
Finally, remember that Twilight didn’t even get the situation right; she thought Cadance had “changed” and become evil. And instead of trying to friendship the hell out of her, like with so many villains, she just wanted to hurt her. She nearly hurt the real Cadance because she was so blinded by her rage! If Twilight nearly attacking Cadance because she was fooled into thinking she was bad is forgivable, then surely Twi’s friends walking away from her because they were fooled into thinking she was bad is also forgivable.

How was Twilight wrong with the wedding? She was right about Cadance being EVIL cause it wasn’t her. Everypony was just too caught up in the festivities to even notice the erratic changes. Not even Celestia, who knew Cadance all her life saw ANY difference to her. I’m sorry that moment THEY messed up not Twilight….minus the part of not having enough evidence for her accusation, that was just being careless.

Twilight was justified. Just extremely distraught. So, yeah, she now has Hyper PTSD. XD

Ok Twilight you were wrong, but does that make your actions truly wrong? Yes you attempted theft on Queen Novo, but in case anypony hasn’t noticed EQUESTRIA WAS BURNING! Their homes were being destroyed, ponies were suffering, and she was desperate when she heard her say “No, I’m not going to help you” How would you feel if you came all that way and the only small glimmer of hope just told you no. You’d be desperate too.
 
So what if Pinkie sang a cheerful bubbly song, I still think she would of said no. I mean that’s a pretty big change in just a few minutes. If I sang a cheerful song to someone I didn’t know before I even got to know them would they instantly trust me. Pinkie and the entire mane six are way too naive and it’s going to hit them hard one day when they realize that. Twilight was right, “Parties and songs are not enough” It’s the Gray Moral of life. Sometimes a lesser evil has to win to help the greater good. I seriously wish we could finally see that in MLP instead of treating everything even remotely bad is WRONG.
 
And seeing Queen Novo come at the end just made me want to cast her back in the sea. “Yeah thanks for the help lady, why don’t you go back to eating krill while my kingdom slowly burned away” Did she not even know what was going to happen when Equestria was taken? Storm King would of just zapped the water and turned them all into fried cod.
 
So Twilight, yes you did mess up. But you did it just to save not just Equestria, but the entire world.
 
I know I’m going to get flak for this, but I believe in the gray moral and I know it can exist in this type of world of colorful ponies.

I.e., useless at her own stated duties. Can’t really be the Princess of Friendship when you keep fucking up your relationships by turning your back on everything you stand for. She manipulated PINKIE, of all ponies. That’s like stealing candy from a baby - easy, and needlessly cruel.

I think the magic of friendship became weak since twilight got her wings

Just like the royal wedding, and now she is this close on losing her wings
