Nick was clearly being facetious.
So in the show it only shows sirans that look like the ones from equestria girls being banished but it does not mean there the same ones
your current filter.If it was that easy then any fan theory that had evidence in a show would be true. The writers need to confirm a connection between evidence first or mention it in the show. Otherwise it’s just randomness. The siren EQG connection is basically a fan theory that got confirmed.

So Rainbow Rocks has three sirens banished from Equestria to the EqG world by Starswirl the Bearded, and Shadow Play shows three sirens with the same colors being banished from Equestria by Starswirl the Bearded, but there’s no reason whatsoever to assume they’re connected. Got it.
Without confirmation you just don’t assume anything since it hasn’t been stated in the show. I guess they deliver confirmations afterwards to troll people.
