Does it have to be? That’s a pony, or a horse, or a unicorn. It’s related to MLP even if it isn’t MLP.

Derpibooru isn’t just MLP stuff. It’s pony stuff in general, and that extends to horses or other depictions of equines similar to ponies so long as it’s in some way related to MLP. This is a stylistic depiction of a unicorn pony, which is related to MLP through the fact that it’s a unicorn pony.
