On a sociological level,there’s a lot of “pressure” from outsiders to make this fandom better and comfy because,and i can understand why people think like that,you’re suppose to behave well and prioritize little girls who are the target audience and not act like an asshole especially when the subtitle of the show is “Friendship is Magic” which could have been replaced by “Dont Be An Asshole For God Sake” if the show was rated PG-13
A lot of bitterness around here come partly because the public image of a show ,that raison d etre is to be as comfy and escapist, as MLP suffer badly when for example channers decide to make Aryanne the next mascot of the alt-right (ironic or no).MLP public image is still heavily influendced by the 3 first decade of its existence which made it a “girl only” franchise.You (the general public) dont expect porn or 4Chan culture from MLP,that simply does not compute,IMO the kinda forced marriage of MLP and modern internet culture was a rocky one and it also wasnt helped by the societal expectations of masculinity,which is why bronies are still the scapegoat to the point they were brandished as a proverbial boogeyman even in review of the movie which complained that IIRC,i’m kinda paraphrasing i dont remember the exact quote “Hasbro now had to pander to another clientele [bronies]” and she argued that it was denaturing the product.

I remember seeing a brony badmouthing Sonic fans for making “recolor” fan-characters/OCs, and trying to act like bronies were superior…
His DA art gallery & favorites were full of pony OCs, (including flat-out recolors of official art) and such… I also saw a Sonic fan doing the same exact thing in reverse.
I keep seeing bronies going off on how much “better” we are then Sonic fans, (a guy here even hassled me for liking Sonic) but let me say as both a brony, and Sonic-fan myself, that both fanbases have alot of similarities (good or bad) I noticed that I could go on for paragraphs about.
Heck, back when the “Twilicorn” drama first happened years ago, a similar drama happened in the Sonic fandom on DA over Princess Sally getting a redesign in the official Sonic comics.
Regardless, the brony Sonic fans in the Derpibooru forums are pretty nice to talk to, and the Sonic forum thread is practically drama-free, even when people disagree in it. So actually, alot of brony Sonic fans aren’t as bad as some say.

One thing I’ve always found amusing, in a depressing way, is how so many bronies will insist that it’s unfair to expect this fandom to be any better than any other fandom, then they’ll get upset at someone describing or portraying the fandom as having the same flaws as other fandoms.
We already talked about it in another thread and i’m still adamant that “Fame and Misfortune” is the logical conclusion that came when you act like the alt.tv.simpsons of old.You didn’t wanted the show to make a commentary on the fandom ? Don’t make yourself the most visible and noisy part associated with the show.
Not normally a fan of Tumblr, but there might be some truth to that.
Admittedly, I like a li’l dark/edgy comedy myself, and I’m often surprised at how bent some fans get over the slightest edgy things, even from the actual show itself. Some former bronies even tell me they stopped watching the show for being “too edgy.” Which I find odd as unlike SpongeBob, MLP can at least have an innocence about itself despite it’s edgy moments. And honestly, li’l girls like edgy shows, or even “boy” shows. It’s ironic my nieces can handle some things some teen or grown up fans can’t…
In fact, most recently some fans got quite “triggered” by that recent Season 7 episode “Fame and Misfortune.” Rather then just see it as a harmless satire on unexpected popularity, (something some popular bronies can actually relate to) as well as fanbases in general, and the downsides to suddenly becoming “famous,” some instead took it as a personal attack on the brony fanbase, and themselves. Some fans are really thin-skinned. (I suppose all the brony-hate groups who want to troll us off the internet isn’t helping that though. It’s making some fans really paranoid.)

The problem that always stuck out like a sore thumb is that people watching a show about pastel ponies werent supposed to act like the most rabid of Trekkie shipper or whatever but here we are.This fandom is a living,breathing Dolores Umbridge Paradox

Every fandom has A-holes. Heck on occasion, we can probably be A-holes ourselves, and not even realize it.
There seem to be two extremes in the negative side of the fanbase, those that either think the fans are flawless, have a persecution complex, (therefore taking any slight critique or satire of the fanbase too personally) and feel entitled to whatever they want from the show/comic/staff/ect.
Then there’s those that seem to self-loathe their own fanbase, and constantly bad-mouth it, despite liking the same show, and acting the same way they dislike other fans acting.
Still, I’m not trying to lump the fanbase into just two groups. There’s plenty of nice fans too. Still, we’re all human, and even nice fans have their breaking points, and flaws. Nobody’s perfect.
Also, you won’t find me ever white-knighting for all of MLP fandom, especially lately. Especially now that I know what dicks a lot of us are. Fandoms have problem children, but what I also don’t like is broad-brush generalizations about us. I don’t know what Ted subscribes to but it’s never a good sign when a staffer, even of the comic, secretly finds people who read his work distasteful.

Andy’s actually been a pretty good sport about the brony fanbase, as far as I’ve seen. No need to demonize all the IDW staff.
Why does this shock people nowaday ? I mean Nick Confalone coining a “delightfully” condescending Bronysplaining (because mens,amirite ?) cause no waves nowadays

I may be wrong, but Price biggest gigs in the comic industry were covers from licensed Quantum Leap comics and promotional art for MARVEL and DC collectible cards.
In fact he’s more known for drawing femdom, bondage and spanking fetish art from superheroines and videogame characters
I hear that’s actually why they brought back the SMB3 Doomships in SMGalaxy, and they became a series staple sense.
Still, it’s nice to see some old stuff come back after a long time.
I get the feeling that the people that now make the Mario games grew up playing the games and that’s why we now have fire flowers in Mario Kart after more then 20 years and some of the more recent nostalgia elements in other Mario games.
I’m aware. It’s actually more common then people think, like people who work on Batman usually read Batman comics before as kids, and such.
It’s not that strange. For decades in Japan, most manga artists started off with fan manga. It doesn’t mean they can’t be considered “professionals” later on in life.

That being the case, how come Pencils hasn’t gotten a proper seat on the council?
Basically most modern day comic book artists, animators, game designers, ect. were formally fanartists when they were younger. Look at people who work on DC, Marvel, Sonic, ect.
At this point, many “professional artists” were just fanartists that got lucky.
Yeah, it was. He then dug himself into a hole, and people found out that he personally supported a bunch of anti-brony stuff himself.
And with the covers, well, they haven’t gotten a fanartist to draw interiors yet.
