I didn’t like how Tough love ended either, but I didn’t realized how strongly people felt about it.  
The original ending was pretty weak, too.

she’s sexist because its clear she treats stallions as nothing more than sex toys and dumb them wend she gets boarded
 
hypocritical because she yells at Blueblood for doing minor stuff she does
 
and cannibal because well she used to eat ponies (mostly those given the death penalty, which she sees a stallion having dating books and a playboy as one such crime)
 
Overall its pretty good but really inconsistent on Celestia’s sexual habits for some reason.
 
Like Nightmare is shocked to find Celestia had a husband and gave birth to a daughter (who’s the founder of Blueblood’s family) but then mentions Celestia use to have a Harlem and the “Solar herd” which implies are ponies that come form Celestia blood only to mention again the Celestia rarely takes any kind of lover.

However the writer is kinda a Luna fanboy so odds are no. After all that’s the reason for the old ending.

That’s they way it should have happened, but it shouldn’t have ended there. Luna’s corrupt empire should have then collapsed around her as her bullshit was gradually revealed.
 
But the thing is, the whole “tough love” thing… It was never justified. There was never any risk of Celestia becoming a monster or a tyrant, she just wanted to learn how to better defend herself and her ponies. How the fuck did Luna interpret that as “Oh, I want to be the violent, fire and brimstone ruler I was in the days of old”? It was completely unjustified! And to justify herself, she drugged her fucking sister so that she would be that tyrannical crone! It was never Celestia’s fault. And then at the end, Luna says “Oh, this was for your own good” and Celestia buys it. I’d nuke that dumb bitch with a sun laser.
 
Terrible ending is terrible and bad and the author should be crucified for ruining a good thing.

Tough Love: Celestia vs. Luna. Such an awesome premise, and the execution was pretty amazing, but then… The ending. The reason for everything happening the way it did, my God. The worst.

This is the cover to a fic I liked. But then the author botched the ending so badly, that I legitimately can’t think of it without getting a bad taste in my mouth.
