I might sound a bit wierd but i have my own mud expierince when it comes to going nude in mud.
But i like it to getting muddy in swimsuit or short dress or short.
Nude is always the best option when it comes to not messing up clothes; so I agree with your comment in full.
True as that is, they’re still some well drawn costumes, and capture the feel of “screw your horrified-at-a-pinprick-of-dirt let’s have some fun.”
Short dress or skirt or short shorts i can agree on that.
But swimsuits are the best for playing in mud. But the very best way to play in mud i suggest going nude.

If mud bathing is a tradition, then a swimsuit might be better. But for clothes, preferably a shorter dress or skirt so you don’t have to move around as much clothing. Pants is probably the best option here, after swimsuits.
What would you prefer to wear when playing in the mud?
I don’t think long dresses are that great to play around in at all.
