That was a machine that was being built for days in secret and meant to affect an entire city of ponies in its entirety. All of canterlot and some area beyond.
 
this is a singular ruin that we are expected to have any impact on one of the most powerful being in equestria. Dude, the fucking circle thing they set up before was stretching the belif but at least that was some set up shit. Now we are expected to think a singular ruin is doing this?

Actually, it would be a deus ex machina only if the properties of the device were not explained beforehand. Right now all that is going on is that the runes are ridiculously more powerful than thought. Which brings up another host of issues I pointed out before.

How is it a bad critique? The literal definition of a deus ex machina is a god introduced into a play or story to resolve the entanglements of the plot. Draco LITERALLY introduced a dark goddess back into the universe to stop the greater evil, and then not even 2 strips later all that power gets sapped away by “Oh look, magic runes that make your god powers null & void” because reasons. Why even have the big show of power and explain Nightmare Moon is getting unlimited power from all the hate & fear in the air only to go, “Yeah, but now it’s all neutralized!”?

So, what the hell is the point of introducing the Nightmare Moon deus ex machina if you’re going to make her powerless and unable to stop the attacker 2 pages later? What was originally an interesting comic is becoming utterly stupid with the, “Oh, you thought you had a chance, but here’s ANOTHER middle finger!” this comic keeps doing. It’s lost it’s impact at this point, and is becoming lazy writing…

And in the off chance they knew? Sometimes militaries will favor some soldiers over the others. Think of them as… Medals of Honor, or the Queens Cross I guess. Trying to capitalize a super weapon that you know takes a lot of rare to find materials is just plain silly, and would never work correctly or as efficiently if you gave them to everybody. Some would fail, and probably destroy the owner. Some wouldn’t have enough to either work or it would suck the user dry. I used to come up with all sorts magical artifacts back in my fiction days, (English Class fiction anyways) but I’m no expert, unfortunately.

maybe, but just wanting more of them doesn’t make the task of creating more perfect replicas more feasible. Take the PPG’s example of this, where they mass produce PPGs, that’s probably how this would go too.

With how strong this makes just one person it would be insanely stupid not to make as many of these as you could regardless of how rare or expensive materials would be. Without some kind of huge flaw in these things any military worth, their salt would pore as much into making these as they could; it would be bordering on their number one priority.

From my guess, the runes probably take A LOT of materials to make, something that only certain soldiers (and possibly the Judicator himself) only wears. Only the Generals and (maybe) high ranking officers wear them. Everyone else is essentially a foot soldier

Was there any reason given why they don’t just give this rune tech to every soldier in their army? Because this is honestly seeming a bit too overpowered.
 
Edit: Heck the way this looks now you could give this to a small platoon of soldiers and they would steamroll all of Equestria.
