I can see what you guys mean about the eyebrows, sometimes I draw them over the hair but with this particular “style” of humans (I switch up all the time haha) I don’t, but I think I’m gonna start if you guys think it’d be an improvement :3
@BronyHeresy it’s not really a case of tan here, it’s natural skin tone “^^ I usually give AB a farmers tan, but I completely forgot here.
Posing and proportions I definitely need to look at yeah haha. I have a serious case of same pose going on with a lot of my stuff, and switching it up can get me a bit confused haha. But hey trying something new and practising is always a good thing even if the results aren’t spectacular at first V
Noses I picked mostly based on race, AB has a cute button nose, BS a slightly wider button, Scoots has an almost romantic nose because I had her as sort of, Grecian? at first, and Sweetie has a mostly flat nose with a slight bump as she’s supposed to be asian haha.
And yeah I just like noodle arms for this style haha
But yeah thanks guys :3 I’ll take it all to heart!
You see that sorta eyebrow thing a lot in anime. I think that would really benefit this piece. Might do well to do the same thing with ABs eye, which sorta layers on top of her hair.
@Heresy
You right about AB and Scoot. Personally, i like BSs proportions. Makes her look a little chunky, which corresponds well to the original pony.
Also, I fuckin love noodle arms!
As for the poses, etc. One thing which I would say needs work more than anything else is proportion. For example, compare the widths of AB’s legs. The belt clearly shows that her lower body is facing the camera, yet her left leg is only half as thick as her right. Babs’ waist circumference is really big, compared to her shoulders. Scootaloo’s shoulders are barely there, and her spine is really weirdly bent. Sweetie’s left and right eyes have a similar problem to Apple Bloom’s legs, and the others’ eyes could use a tiny bit of touching up. Finally, the noses are a little awkward, though that’s a matter of preference.
All in all, probably 6.5/10. It’s good, and I can see you have talent, but it needs work.
Hope you find my critiques useful! :)
That’s understandable. Sometimes I do the opposite and remember the most obscure crap (a la black Twilight).
I’ve noticed that some artists who want to implement eyebrows that are hidden by hair, hats, or whatever make faint eyebrow “marks” where no difference of color is added, but the lining is still there.
It’s not a very good example, but >>145320 sorta gets my point across.
Oh yeah I remember that now. Sorry nigga I get forgetful.
You right about the eyebrows too. It is a little inconsistent and makes Applebloom and Sweetie Belle seem a little less expressive. Course since they’re mostly hidden by the hair anyway, it makes sense to take the shortcut of not drawing them. Fuck I do shit like that that all the time.
I thought I thought I did back at that one black Twilight image that was close to being very good.
Anyway, I like it, but AB’s and SB’s lack of eyebrows just strikes me as odd. The lack of black outlines was a nice touch, too.
Huh. I think that’s the first time anyone’s taken what I have to say seriously. Damn.
This is good work tho. Faces, proportions and especially dem eyes look nice and uniquely stylized.
And if indeed your headcanon for Scootaloo is black, don’t be discouraged. Humanizing a nigga pone is tough since it introduces a new color to the character’s scheme. Not many do it well, but it can be done.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion and their vote; who am I to say what you are allowed to like? However, I just have trouble believing this picture warrants a downvote.
I could be quite wrong.
Legit tho, this isn’t too bad. Having Babs be a little darker makes sense, goes well with her palette, and works well with the whole city pony thing. It’s a balancing act to make it seem like she’s still genetically Applebloom’s cousin, but this piece pulls it off well.
Scoot on the other hand…damn. Honestly, I’ve always envisioned her as a little dark myself. Here, the color does sorta conflict with the palette. Beyond that the hair is a little weird at the scalp, and she’s dfinitely got the weirdest ass pose of the 4 of em.
Stylistically well done, but it could use some improvement.
Racism is a part of humanity that I wish would die off….
Skin tone the same as her fur color I could be 0kay with :D
