I think the whole getting dismembered part was very much unneeded, and a waste of time for getting the big bad chimera. It’s not like she could just know that this thing would just rip apart everyone else. She bluffs and lies a lot, too.

Maybe Chryssy’s “defeat” under Chimera vanguardian was part of the plan. Pinkie is broken, RD humilliated, Sunset poisoned and Fluttershy has summon a monster that’s exactly what Chryssalis want.
