Well, Tempest was born in a small village that’s possibly near Canterlot or Ponyville but betrayed Equestria abandoning her homeland and was raised by the Storm king in the Forgottne Hills beyond Equestria. And now today, she was betrayed and defected and know peace and spread the word to all ponies across Equestria about the Storm King’s death after she refused to live in Ponyville that the Storm King had conquered with the Mane Six and Spike and the rest of Ponyville’s population that the Storm King and his troops enslaved and arrested.
In my case, all villains need punishments, if forgiving is the only thing Twilight can do, Starlight hasn’t the fault.
Depending on the nature and extent of the war crime, “just following orders” is not enough to escape punishment. It may lighten the sentence in some cases, but chances are that the offender will still be punished. Leading an outside force to conquer your home nation is treason of the highest order.
But this is Equestria. They are a forgiving lot.
Please tell me your trolling. Those laser beams were clearly lethal (or at least enough to seriously injure), as we saw in the season 4 premiere. Repairing the front of the school (not the whole building) is an incredibly lenient sentence for someone who committed grand larceny, years of widespread, systematic bullying, and attempted murder. Now, Sunset did face a more substantial consequence in the form of being initially stigmatized by her classmates, but even that was still a relatively light punishment given her crimes. As for Starlight, her situation is no different from the other reformed antagonists. Did she receive a relatively light punishment for her transgressions? Sure. But that just makes her part of the norm, and not some sort of exception. To say that she specifically must be tortured and killed while the others do not is hypocritical at best.

You’re not serious, are you? She outright said “I only have one royal duty now, to destroy you!” and proceeded to unleash laser beams that tore through the castle like it was made of paper.
Yes she has the excuse of having been in a corrupted state but she did still try to do those things.
Starlight helped to a specie being more kindly and not only “I’m hungry, I need love”. So don’t throw up shit to only one pony.
Luna didn’t try to kill her sister. Those were huggable laser beams. And Sunset Shimmer help rebuild the school, that is a big punishment. The only who should be tortured and die is Starlight Glimmer.
Your hometown Tempest.
Isn’t “just following orders” grounds for war crimes anyways?
Taking a bullet for the mane 6 probably allowed her some royal leniency”
In all honesty, that excuse only really works for soldiers and low-ranking underlings, not high-ranking generals who led and commanded invasion forces. Tempest was the one making decisions and giving orders here. The fact that she helped defeat the Storm King and foil his conquest is much more likely to be why she walked free.
MLP:FiM rhyme with “What it say on the tin”.You have been fairly warned since the title screen
Who knows what happened to Grubber? Last we canonically see him, he’s shoved into a cake.
