In terms of women’s rights, King Abdullah (the one pictured) was actually more progressive than any other Saudi Arabian monarch. He appointed women to previously all-male consultative councils, and had plans to grant female suffrage.

The problem with that argument is the fact that many Middle Eastern countries are Theocracies, meaning that the religion and the government are one and the same, so you can’t mention the country without mentioning the religion as well (Iran is a prime example).

The Saudi king is an ignoramus A-hole who thinks that anyone who questions his crappy government should be viewed as a terrorist.
