At first I was like “ha ha,” but then…I kind of realized that that might actually be true. The more I think about thus, the more it makes me wonder how much of their anatomy is retained between forms.
 
Though it’s important to remember that they started out at hippogriffs and became hippocampi, not sea horses. (They use the term “sea pony,” and while this is more accurate to the G1 depiction, the current “mer-pony” design is really more reminiscient of the mythical hippocampus. And here I go spouting technicalities…)
