I was referring to the fandom. I’ve seen critics being critical of, say, Applejack lying or Fluttershy being cruel, and not so much, say, Pinkie Pie becoming a grump in “The Return of Harmony.” Is a lying Applejack any less Applejack, or a cruel Fluttershy any less Fluttershy, than a grumpy Pinkie Pie is being Pinkie Pie?
Edited because: An adjustment to the wording.
An uproar in the fandom or in-universe? If we’re talking about the fandom, it’s probably a combination of hypocrisy and “It’s Pinkie.” If we’re talking in-universe…“It’s Pinkie Pie, don’t question it,” maybe?
The thing is, based on what I’ve seen, Pinkie’s the only one who hasn’t caused an uproar when she became depressed, even just sad.
She’s not though? All the element bearers we’ve seen have faltered in their element at one point or another.
