A lot of cultures see the shape of a rabbit in the moon, for example acording to an aztec legend when the moon was created it was just like the sun but smaller, since that way nobody could sleep at night a god throw a rabbit to the moon to turn it off
 
and acording to another aztec legend the god Quetzalcoatl decided to do some walking around but forgot his food, so when he got really, really hungry a rabbit decided to sacifice himself so Quetzalcoatl could eat. latter Quetzalcoatl put the shape of the rabbit in the moon in remembrance of the rabbit’s sacrifice
