there are quests, it’s not clear how your supposed to get them but you’ll have them. also they’ve said that private servers will be a thing around launch.

I just want something to do with my friends. And this is coming from a guy that spends 90% of his time in Fallout 4 wandering around and building settlements. If killing other players is the only other thing to do aside from build your base and explore, I’m gonna get bored real fast.

this is cute and all, but we all know fallout 76 is going to be festering garbage. it has lost the magic of the original fallouts and is now just trying to capitalize on games like ark or conan exhiles. plus, the monster designs are fucking uncreative and dumb.

There was actually an interview after the presentation where Howard said that private servers and mods will come after launch.

We actually have zero confirmation of that as of this moment. All Todd has said at this point is that the game is always online, that there will be no server select screen, that the only humans you will see are other players (meaning quests are either threadbare or nonexistent) and that you can choose to play “solo.” That has not been elaborated on further at this point, it could merely mean that you don’t have to play with a party and that people are still completely able to blow your shit up and kill you. Since your progress saves it’s not seen as a detriment to the player by Bethesda, just part of the experience.
 
Until they come right out and actually say that there are options for private play, I would not assume that “solo” means “in a private lobby completely isolated from other players.”
