You and I are now Bro’s.
In my mind, Twilight’s the only lesbian in town. except for Lyra and Bon Bon, but they’re a couple already.
No offense, but I never really cared for that fanon idea. (In fact, I get tired of everyone trying to make every character gay, or pair them up with every other character.) It just seems to cliche’ that a girl just ‘cause she’s a “tomboy,” or something means she’s a “lezzy.”
It’s a bit of an unfair generalization to both hetro’, and gay tomboys.
MY PENIS DOESN’T WORK!!!!
This is why it called a FANDOM.
It will never happen.
Besides, were just complete idiots.
The problem of course being, that sometimes opinions will largly differ within the production-crew.
How much this would help is another debate though…
For me personally… I honestly don’t care.
This isn’t a romantic oriented show (yet), so the sexual orientation is simply not important in this show.
So a stay with the fanon-depiction of RD’s preference… namely everything that moves ûu
If they ever confirm her sexuality, it’s one of two things:
She’s gay, and they look like an asshole for making a caricature of homosexuality.
She’s straight, and they come across as clever and brillaint for subverting expectations and breaking stereotypes.
Gee, which one will it be?
It’s not complicated.
I don’t see why a butch-looking/sounding woman is almost automatically a lesbian. Fluttershy could count as a “lipstick” but nope, bunch of Fluttermac.
But definitively proving she’s not a lesbian (which would be really funny, I agree) would require a serious romance plot starring a mane character, something else the writers and creators know won’t happen.
I’m not saying Rainbow is a lesbian or even that lesbians are bad, but, come on. The writers and creators are informed people, and had to know this character would generate these kinds of reactions.
One of the biggest points of the show is the subversion of stereotypes. Twilight’s a peevish OCD librarian, but she’s a hero with a heart of gold. Fluttershy’s a meek wallflower, but she’s a berserker in a pinch and would die for her friends. Rarity’s a dramatic buffoon, but she’s one of the most selfless ponies alive. etc, etc.
Rainbow Dash is a lesbian stereotype, and isn’t a lesbian. Get over it.
Because screw stereotypes.
So either they were unaware of the blazing sterotype they created, or were making a subtle joke.
(Still her choice, lest there be any doubt on my position. Insofar as “her choice” can apply to a fiction cartoon pony.)
